How to disable the iSight camera on your mac

All Mac (except the Mac mini) incorporate years integrated in the front bezel, FaceTime (call before iSigth), on top of the camera screen. In fact Apple has always wanted that their computers had none embodied and externally. However, as a safety measure, it is good when you want to disable. We teach you how to do it easily.

Disables FaceTime camera on your Mac

As I say, many people fear for their safety online, and why even cover its FaceTime camera with tape to prevent someone from accessing it without permission. But we also do something simple, with a small script we can clear it by software every time you want.

The file is in use originally techslaves.org blog where you can download it to the appropriate operating system. The latest version is compatible with OS X Mavericks, but it works seamlessly in OS X Yosemite. The script, called iSigthDisabler, blocks access to the FaceTime camera temporarily changing the permissions that give it access to the applications that use it.

The first thing to do is download the script and unzip ~ / Library / Scripts /. If you want you can also create your own by opening it with AppleScript application, select File -> Export and choose the format application. To run it simply opens iSigthDisabler and click disable iSigth. If you want to reactivate it, click to enable iSigth. It will ask your administrator password whenever you want to enable or disable the camera.

There are many ways that our security is higher, as encrypt the backup of our data. And for those who do not regularly use the integrated camera, this can be a good measure to prevent access, though not definitive. It is an option to disable our camera FaceTime on your Mac, when we want. As I mentioned at the beginning cover it with tape would be a natural way to protect people effectively without good intentions, but with the inconvenience of having to put it back every time, and that aspect is not very good.
