How To Upgrade Your iDevice To iOS 6 Final Version

How to update your iPhone / iPod / iPad firmware to iOS 6 final version. iOS 6 have amazing and fantastic features like, 3d Maps app, improved Siri, brings Siri for iPad 3, Facebook integration, Passbook, FaceTime over 3G, improved Phone app, new Safari app, improved mail app, panorama photographing and many more features. You must upgrade to iOS 6 and enjoy the new features by following our step by step guide.

Let's Start updating to iOS 6 :

If you gonna upgrade / update your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 6 you should backup your data like contacts, music, apps and whatever, then update your iDevice to iOS 6. But we have three methods for backing up your data.

Back up – Hard Backup ( 1st Method ) :

This the most common method, all you have to do is to connect your iDevice with PC via USB and launch iTunes then choose your device from the left sidebar, right-click > Back Up

But actually I don’t like this method as if your iDevice has any problem such as battery life time, then this problem will be backed up on your backup as well.

Back up – Soft Backup (Recommended) Second Method :

On this method we gonna backup manually the important files (contact, music, photos or whatever). To do this, just connect your iDevice with your PC with USB cable, then click on Info tap as shown in the below screenshot then click Sync contacts and sync them with your PC, now your contacts have been synced to your computer. After updating to iOS 6, just re-sync your iDevice with iTunes this will install them again to your device

You can do the same with music, just go to Music tap and Sync your music with your PC. You can do this with your apps from the Apps tap or with photos from the Photos tap and so on.

Back up – iCloud ( Third Method ) :

If you have iCloud account (for iOS 5 or later), just make sure that iCloud has backed up your contacts, apps and what ever. Tap on Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage.

Note : Once you update your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 6, just open your iCloud account and it will install your contacts, apps and all your baked up data.

How To Update To iOS 6 With iTunes " First Way " :
Step 1: Download iOS 6 ipsw firmware for your iDevice.
Step 2: Download iTunes 10.7 for Windows / Mac
Step 3: Plug your iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS, iPad 3 (The new iPad), 2 or iPod touch 4G, then click on your iDevice form the left sidebar of iTunes.
Step 4: Now you have to restore your iDevice to iOS 6. Hold (Alt in Mac) (Shift in Windows) and click on the ‘restore’ button then point it to iOS 6 ipsw file you download above. Wait for between 10 and 15 minutes for the new iOS 6 to be moved over.

How To Update To iOS 6 With OTA "without iTunes"  Second Way :
There are two important conditions for updating to iOS 6 over the air, your iDevice MUST not jailbroken and running iOS 5 or later.
Step 1: From home screen, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install
Step 2: In few minutes your iDevice will be updated to iOS 6.
Possible issues: If you are receiving “An internal error occurred.” (3200 or 3004) this means Apple’s servers are to busy to deal with your restore request. Try again later.
Important Notes Before Upgrading to iOS 6 :
  • iOS 6 isn’t jailbreakable yet, so by updating to iOS 6, you will lose your jailbreak.
  • iPhone users who rely on unlock (unofficial carriers) using SAM, Gevey SIM, ultrasn0w or any unlock solution MUST stay away from iOS 6 until the official word from iPhone Dev-team.
