How to Activate iOS 5 Beta 2 On iPhone 4, 3GS Without Developer Account

Two days ago, Apple has announced iOS 5 Beta 2 for developer. However, many non-developers get their hands on iOS 5 beta 2 using the various links available around the internet. So how would non-developers activate the UDID of their iPhones specifically? Well, here's a solution for that.

Basically, to run beta firmware on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you need to register the UDID of your device. Only developers registered in the Apple Developer Program can do that, membership of which costs $99 per year. So if you are not a developer, you will definitely don't want to spend $99 for a developer account which you are not going to use.

The procedure that we are documenting here, will only work on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. Nevertheless, it will fully activate iOS 5 beta 2 on your device, without requiring a UDID registration. Your device will also sync with iTunes, after you have done this process. Follow the steps given below to activate iOS 5 beta 2 without a developers account, on iPhone 4 and 3GS.

1. Press the Home button on Activation Screen.
2. Tap “Emergency Call”.
3. Dial 112 (or your local emergency call number) and press the Call button.
4. Now, press Home button.
5. Then tap “Touch to return to call”
6. Press Home button. You should now be seeing the Home screen.
7. Open “Phone” app and End Call.
