To Copy & Paste Feature in Windows Phone 7 Here In Detail

Windows Phone 7, the latest mobile operating system Redmond-based software giant Microsoft brought to the market in late October, is expected to receive enhanced functionality via a software update sometime in early 2011.

The update should bring along one of the most wanted functionalities on mobile devices, namely Copy and paste, and some more details on the matter have just emerged.

It appears that the release of  this software update  might have been set for January, just as some suggested not too long ago.

Proof of that comes from the fact that it was already delivered to some devices out there, namely to developer handsets, one of which already provided some details on it.

According to a recent article on WMPoweruser,  the software update  was released for the select developer handsets with the copy and paste feature included into the mix.

Below, you will find the description of this feature, as one developer, who owns a Samsung Taylor device, reports:

A user can tap a word in mail, IE, Word, etc and that word is then highlighted with arrows on both sides. One can then drag to the left or right to include more words. An icon appears above the highlighted word(s) (looks very similar to the copy icon in Office 2010) to copy.

Open a new document, once the cursor is set/blinking and the soft keyboard appears, a paste icon (again, looks the same as the paste icon in Office 2010) is shown just above the top row of letters.

In “Messaging”, a user can long press a specific IM which open up the hidden menu that now includes copy. Paste where you wish…

Unfortunately, no info on other enhancements that the said software update for Windows Phone 7 emerged for the time being but, if the solution would indeed arrive on devices as soon as next month, it should not be too long before specific info is provided.
