iPhone 8 with OLED display: Apple deal with LG and Samsung fast fix

Samsung and LG as suppliers of display for the iPhone 8: New rumored Apple agreement with the two companies from South Korea is nearing completion. The deal is to refer to the OLED screens for the iPhone of the year 2018.

Therefore LG and Samsung should invest a total of about $12.8 billion in the next two to three years, to build the factories where the OLED screens for the iPhone 8 should be produced, reported, citing the Chinese edition the ETNews MacRumors. The deal includes that Apple financially supports the investments of the two producers. LG is to convert part of its LCD production on OLED to save costs; Samsung will provide the information according to about 30 percent fewer displays than LG.

Investment in the future

End of November 2015 rumors began circulating that Apple wants to set for the first time at the iPhone 8 on screens with OLED technology. Especially the possibility to support features such as 3D touch, despite reduced depth do interesting the OLED displays for Apple.

Although LG and Samsung are obvious supplier due to their experience with OLED technology, said in early December that the display for the Apple could refer iPhone 8 well by Japan display (JDI). Mid-December it seemed as JDI would already prepare for the production of OLED screens; the current rumors suggest now but rather that Apple would rather leaves for the production of iPhone 8 on South Korean manufacturers with some experience in the field of OLED.
