Konami has announced a new Contra for iOS and Android

Konami has decided to revive the series of games Contra and transfer it to mobile devices. As it became known, the publisher signed a contract with the Chinese telecommunications company Tencent, under which the new "counter" will be released on smartphones running iOS and Android.

Earlier this year, Konami released a list of classic games, asking gamers, about the return of any of them, they dream the most. Most votes received horizontal scrolling shooter Contra, which was released for the console NES in 1987.

Mobile Contra will be created in the familiar genre of run-and-gun. True innovation is not without cost. Players should expect to see in-game payments to acquire better weapons or increase the number of lives. It might upset fans of the series, which was famous for a high level of complexity. However, the developers promise to keep the spirit of the original Contra.

Thus, Konami has confirmed earlier on the information about the change of strategy with a priority on mobile devices. Apparently, management is confident that in the future this sphere will become more profitable. In September, the company said it is working on Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and other series.

I should add that in the Contra series includes more than a dozen games, the last - Hard Corps: Uprising - came out on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
